17th Dec 2024 : Christmas RoadShow
Three SRC tutors took our wide range of recorders, descant, treble, tenor, bass, great bass and contrabass, to Ludworth Primary School, Marple Bridge and demonstrated them to a packed hall of youngsters.
They were greeted enthusiastically by all the children who enjoyed joining in singing Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with a recorder accompaniment.
16th November 2024 : SRC takes part in the North West Recorder Festival
SRC made their yearly appearance at the North West Recorder Festival in Heaton Moor. This year, each of our Junior, Intermediate and Senior Ensembles were able to take part, alongside lots of solos too!
30th June 2024 : Chadkirk Chapel
SRC were invited to perform at Chadkirk Chapel open day today. The chapel only opens a few times a year so students had the opportunity to perform for a range of visitors. Our Senior and Intermediate ensembles played a varying programme, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Cabaret!
22nd June 2024 : SRC Exam Day
Students took their Trinity College exams today. Every student passed their exam, across Grades 1 to 7, including 4 students who achieved distinctions!
18th November 2023 : SRC takes part in the North West Recorder Festival
A fabulous morning for SRC at North West Recorder Festival. All of our students played excellently and we won each class that we competed in. Lots of trophies, prizes and medals were taken home! Congratulations to Anreé, who composed ‘Horizon’ that made its world premiere this morning. The adjudicator was so impressed that he asked to hear the piece again to appreciate how wonderful it was. So much talent at SRC!
18th June 2022 : SRC Exam Day
Students took their Trinity College exams today. Every student passed their exam, with 70% achieving distinctions, from Initial (Pre-grade 1) all the way up to Grade 8!
16th June 2022 : SRC go to Brownies
Some of the SRC staff attended 2nd Dialstone Lane Brownies to demonstrate the recorder and give a taster lesson. After the session, we received the below message:
“Thank you to the recorder college for their fun and informative visit, the brownies and all the leaders learnt something and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was lovely to see the children so enthusiastic guessing the tunes and seeing a selection of different sizes of recorders they’d never seen before and then joining in playing the recorders themselves! Reading music and playing in a group is such a wonderful skill, we hope the college goes from strength to strength”
11th December 2021 : Step into Stockport
SRC performed at Step into Stockport today. Despite the cold weather and outdoor stage, our students performed well and lots of shoppers stopped to listen. We performed a variety of pieces from across the term, including some Christmas carols!
4th December 2021 : SRC Christmas Concert
We held our Christmas Concert this evening at All Hallows Church - it was our first concert since December 2019! Well done to our students and staff who all played beautifully and got the audience into the Christmas spirit!
20th November 2021 : SRC takes part in the North West Recorder Festival
SRC made their first public performance after reopening post COVID at the North West Recorder Festival in Heaton Moor. Both of Intermediate Ensemble and Senior Ensemble won first place in their group classes, alongside lots of solos and group performances too!
